Greetings fellow students!
As the fall semester begins, weโre delighted to welcome you back and share the latest updates from our student chapter. We have a busy and engaging semester ahead, filled with opportunities to dive deep into the world of information science and technology.
Our most recent General Member Meeting focused on the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. We laid out the basics of what constitutes AI, chatted about some of the latest trends, discussed our experiences, and explored how these advancements are shaping our field. It was an engaging session. Thank you for everyone who came and participated in the discussion.
Looking forward, weโre excited to announce that this yearโs events will feature a series of sessions dedicated to the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of our professional organization. ASIS&T has a number of different SIGs including International Information Issues (III), Visualization, Images & Sound (VIS), Health Informatics (HLTH), and many more! Hopefully our events will provide valuable insights into a few of these areas of Information Science.
We are also looking to link up with other student groups for events that cover our overlapping interests.
As we gear up for an exciting semester, weโre also looking to expand our team. If you're passionate about shaping the direction of our chapter and want to get more involved, consider joining our executive committee. Itโs a fantastic opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute to our community, and make new friends.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
Hereโs to a fantastic fall semester!
